Wednesday in the AFL

Hey look, box scores with Mets in them.

Salt River beat Scottsdale (the Mets’ team) 12-2.

Most of the Mets’ position players played.

RF Cory Vaugh: 0-4, 3 K
DH Aderlin Rodriguez: 0-3
C Cam Maron: 1-3

It was the first game action since June for Rodriguez. He originally hit the disabled list with what was diagnosed as a strained thumb although when it did not heal, it was expanded to a strained wrist/bone bruise. Rodriguez, who will turn 22 in November, hit .260/.295/.427 in St. Lucie this year with 14 doubles and nine homers in 62 games with a 43/11 K/BB ratio. I wonder if, even with a really good fall, he would convince the Mets to start him in AA Binghamton in 2014.

Metsmerized did an interview with Rodriguez.

On the position side, reliever Chasen Bradford entered the game in the ninth with the bases loaded and two down and picked up one out to keep any further runs off the board and the Scorpions within 10.
