Hansel Robles Tosses Shutout to Lead Cyclones to 1-0 Series Lead

@ Brooklyn Cyclones 4, Hudson Valley Renegades 0

After going 33 innings in the month of August without allowing an earned run, RHP Hansel Robles fired his first career complete game in his first playoff start. Brooklyn now leads the best-of-three game series 1-0.

Robles’  pretty line: 9 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 10 K. Dave Gershman of the Penn League Report had Robles sitting 91-92 mph and touching 94, early in the 2012 season with a four-pitch mix with a slider as his best secondary offering.  Two things limit Robles’ projection: his age – he’s already 22 – or three years older than Michael Fulmer, for example and his size, as he’s listed at 5’11″, 185 pounds.

At the plate, SS Philip Evans and LF Stefan Sabol each had two hits, with Sabol adding a double, one of two Cyclones’ extra-base hits.

CF Brandon Nimmo was 1-4 with a walk and a run scored from the top of the order.
