Short Season Monday: Cyclones shutout; Goeddel getting closer

SS-A: @ Vermont Lake Monsters 1, Brooklyn Cyclones 0

Not much happening here.

TJ Chism was impressive in relief: 2 1/3 IP, bb, 6k.

SS-R: Bluefield Blue Jays 4, @ Kingsport Mets 3

The Kingsport offense banged out 15 hits, but was 3 for 21 with runners in scoring position.

Camden Maron (2-4, HR(2), RBI) hit his second home run of the season, and is now hitting .306/.404/.372.  The 20-year old Maron (pictured), a Huntington, New York native, has been a pleasant surprise, but his .179/.324/.179 effort versus lefties is not encouraging.

SS-R: @ GCL Mets 4, GCL Astros 3- 13 innings

Erik Goeddel, who is making his third rehab start for the GCL Mets, is getting closer to returning to Savannah. Goeddel pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just two singles. He did not walk or strikeout a batter.

Matthew Budgell, 10th round pick, was dominant in his relief stint. He pitched three hitless innings, allowing just one baserunner on an error. Budgell faced 10 hitters and struck out five of them.
