Daily Recap: Saturday, August 9 games

Albuquerque 3 – Las Vegas 8: Kevin Plawecki hit his third Triple-A home run, a two-run shot in the 4th inning. Cory Mazzoni threw 5 2/3 innings, surrendering two earned runs on seven hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks. Cesar Puello was 1-for-4 to lift his batting average to .243. Matt Reynolds was 0-for-4 with a run batted in. Jack Leathersich worked a 1-2-3 9th inning with a pair of strikeouts. >>Read more at MiLB.com


Binghamton 3 – Harrisburg 0: Dilson Herrera returned to the lineup after missing the previous two games with a jammed finger and picked up right where he left off, smacking his seventh Double-A homer in the 1st inning. He finished the day 1-for-4. Brandon Nimmo got his first start since August 3 and likewise got right back on the saddle, going 2-for-4. He’s hit safely in nine of his last 11 games started. Bradenton 3 – St. Lucie 4: The Mets scored the game winning run in the bottom of the 9th on a wild pitch. L.J. Mazzilli, Jeff McNeil and Cam Maron had two knocks each. McNeil has now hit safely in eight straight games and is batting .275 in the FSL. Gavin Cecchini was 0-for-4. >>Read more at MiLB.com


Savannah 9 – Augusta 2, game 1: The Sand Gnats scored all nine of their runs in the final three innings. In his fourth at-bat of the game and 402nd this season Dominic Smith finally launched his first homer of the campaign. He also doubled and drove in three runs. Champ Stuart was 1-for-3 with a triple and run batted in. Yeixon Ruiz, Matt Oberste and Jeff Glenn also tripled. >>Read more at MiLB.com

Savannah 1 – Augusta 3, game 2: Robert Gsellman threw five shutout innings, lowering his era to 2.34. The only Savannah run was driven in by Jonathan Johnson in the 2nd inning. Matt Oberste singled and scored the only run. >>Read more at MiLB.com


Brooklyn 2 – Batavia 4: Amed Rosario cracked his fifth double of the season and drove in a run. Michael Conforto was hitless in four at-bats and struck out three times. Jhoan Urena extended his hit streak to five games with a single. RHP Marcos Molina struck out 11 in six innings but allowed four runs and was saddled with the loss. >>Read more at MiLB.com


Bristol 4 – Kingsport 5: DH Jean Rodriguez had a big game with the bat, going 3-for-4 with a triple, homer and two rbi. The 21-year-old has eight hits in his last three games. Luis Guillorme followed up his five-hit night Friday with a 1-for-4 effort Saturday, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Lefty Blake Taylor was pulled after allowing three runs on six hits with five walks in 3 2/3 innings on the mound. >>Read more at MiLB.com


GCL Cardinals 6 – GCL Mets 2: Milton Ramos was 1-for-4 and has now hit safely in eight of his last 10 games. 1B Manuel Hilario had the only multi-hit game, going 2-for-4. Dale Burdick hit his first homer of the season leading off the 6th inning. >>Read more at MiLB.com
