Fawning Over Flores after a Gnats Win

@ Savannah Sand Gnats 4, Augusta GreenJackets 1

The Gnats snapped a four-game losing streak and evened their record at 4-4 with Mark Cohoon’s second win of the season.
The Big News is that Wilmer Flores (.364/.382/.424) was 2-3 with a walk and an RBI.  His hits weren’t all that impressive in terms of making hard contact: a fisted flare into shallow right and a ground ball that snuck through the hole at short.  In 33 AB, he’s now drawn one walk and has not struck out.  His ability to make contact is just crazy good.  He also made another strong throw from the outfield grass to nail a slowish runner at first.  For my money, he has the best infield arm in the system.

Mark Cohoon (2-0, 0.77) worked around four hits and two walks in six innings for his second win.  He won’t overpower anyone, but he throws strikes and can spin a breaking ball and mix in a change, and in the SAL, that’s more than enough.
