Thursday Recap: Strasburg is good; Malo and Flores Clutch

AAA: Syracuse Chiefs 7, @ Buffalo Bisons 1

In case you didnt know, Stephen Strasburg is really good.  In his final minor league start, Strasburg held the Bisons to three singles in five innings of work.  He struck out five and walked only one.  With the constant media hype and attention Strasburg gets, he continues to deliver the goods.  Strasburg is scheduled to make his Washington Nationals debut on Tuesday June 8th against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Dillon Gee (6 IP, 7 hits, 5 r, 2 er, 1 bb, 7 k, 2 HR) started for the Bisons and took the loss.  Mike Jacobs committed two errors leading to three unearned runs.  Jesus Feliciano (2-4) scored the Bisons lone run.

AA: Binghamton Mets 3, @ Bowie Baysox 2

Jonathan Malo (pictured) hit a game-winning two-run homerun in the top of the 8th, to lead the B-Mets to the victory 3-2 over Bowie.  The homer was Malo’s second of the season.  The victory stops a three-game losing streak for the B-Mets.  Manny Alvarez (2-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Mike Antonini (6 1/3 IP, 6 hits, 1 er, 1 bb, 7 k).  Roy Merritt picked up his 4th save, pitching two hit-less innings.  Kirk Nieuwenhuis was 2-4 with a rbi.
