Bowie enters this series in a scrum for the Western division. They are in 4th place but just 2.5 games out of a playoff spot and 3.0 games out of first place. Binghamton‘s magic number to win their division over Trenton (and home field in the playoffs) is down to 3.
Darin Gorski allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 over 6 IP in his last start. It was the first time he had allowed more than 2 runs in a AA game, and the first time in four starts that he failed to pitch 7 innings or more.

Seth Lugo tries to maintain his hot start in the SAL after allowing just 6 hits with no walks and 21 K over 13 IP. With 6 more strike outs he would match his NYPL total of 27 over 7 starts.

A-Sh: Staten Island Yankees [NYY] (23-34) @ Brooklyn Cyclones (29-28) Listen
Monday 5:30 ET – RHP Giovanny Gallegos (2-4, 3.99) vs. RHP Akeel Morris (3-0, 0.54)
Mon. Game Two – RHP Cole Coshow (0-2, 4.11) vs. TBA
This makes up for the July 1st postponement of a game that was originally postponed on opening night.
The Yankees have been one of the weaker hitting teams in the NYPL with a .640 OPS (Cyclones .624) and are also near the bottom with a 3.39 ERA (3.24 is NYPL average) while the Cyclones are second best with a 2.67 team ERA. This 5 game set could be the jump start the Cyclones need for a winning streak and a move from .500
Akeel Morris has been dominant in a tandem starter role earning a starting role. Last year with Kingsport he was similar after moving out of a starting role, but that was after he allowed 32 runs in 22.1 IP as a starter.
