Blake Forsythe and Josh Rodriguez each had three hits last night as part of a 14 hit game.
Tyler Pill went 6-1, 2.05 ERA with 51 K and 14 BB over 61.1 IP for St. Lucie in the second half of last year.  Paolo Espino has spent time at Akron every year since 2009, and made 20 starts for the Aeros last year going 7-3, 3.09 ERA.

Noah Syndergaard, Mets #3 prospect by this very site and mlb.com made 19 starts and 8 relief outings last year while posting a 2.60 ERA, 1.08 whip, and a .212 BAA for Lansing in the low A Midwest League.  Jake Esch split last year between the NYPL and the SAL, posting a 3.15 ERA, 1.19 whip, and a .232 BAA over 68.2 IP.

Sunday 2:00 ET – RHP Rainy Lara (0-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Patrick Scoggin (0-0, 0.00)

Rainy Lara spent last year with the Cyclones, going 8-3 with a 2.91 ERA, striking out more batters (77) than base runners allowed (65).  Former minor league 1B/3B Jake Kuebler made his pitching debut last night, allowing 4 ER on 5 hits, 1 BB and 3 K over 3 IP.  Kuebler went 7-0, 0.16 ERA as a senior in high school, but the Royals saw him as a hitter.

 

AAA: Las Vegas 51s (3-0) @ Sacramento River Cats (0-3) Listen
Sunday 4:05 ET – RHP Carlos Torres (0-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Sonny Gray (0-0, 0.00)

Zach Lutz played the first 7 innings of last night game in RF, adding a double and a walk.  Collin McHugh struck out 7 over 5.1 IP allowing 1 run on 4 hits and a walk, picking up the win.
Carlos Torres struggled in big league camp, but lack of SP depth have landed him a spot in the 51s rotation.  Torres split last year between the Rockies and Colorado Springs, so he brings experience in hitter friendly environments.  He posted a 3.98 ERA, 1.43 ERA, allowing 6 HR in 61 IP.  Sonny Gray was the 18th overall pick in the 2011 draft, and is now the A’s 6th prospect according to mlb.com.  He spent 2012 in the AA Texas League, finishing with a 4.14 ERA, with 97 K and 57 BB in 148 IP.
