Thursday 6:30 ET – RHP Adrian Sampson (0-0, 6.00) vs. RHP Domingo Tapia (2-1, 2.29)

Adrian Sampson has struck out 12 and walked 4 in 12 IP.  Against St. Lucie 12 days ago he struck out 3 and walked 1 over 4.1 IP, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits.
In his last start Domingo Tapia went 7 IP for the first time this year 4 H, 2 runs (0 ER), 1 BB, 6 K.  In four starts he’s totaled 18 K and 7 BB over 19.2 IP allowing a .203 BAA.  Lefty reliever Jim Fuller has yet to allow a run this year with 10.1 IP over 5 relief outings, 4 H, 6 BB, 10 K.

 

A: Delmarva Shorebirds (11-9) @ Savannah Sand Gnats (11-8) Listen
Thursday 7:05 ET – RHP Branden Kline (1-1, 6.28) vs. RHP Gabriel Ynoa (1-2, 4.20)

Branden Kline has struck out 10 and walked 11 over 14.1 IP.  Delmarva leads the league in walks issued with 92, after walking 12 Gnats last night, while Savannah pitching has issued just 31 walks on the year.
Gabriel Ynoa has struck out 13 and walked 5 for a FIP of 2.47 and despite only allowing SAL batters to hit .246 against him  they’ve managed to plate 8 runs against him.

 

AAA: Tacoma Rainiers [SEA] (10-10) @ Las Vegas 51s (10-8) Listen
Thursday 10:05 ET – LHP Danny Hultzen (3-1, 2.78) vs. RHP Zack Wheeler (0-1, 4.91)

Danny Hultzen was the no. 2 overall pick of the 2011 draft out of the University of Virginia, and has struck out 25 and walked 6 over 22.2 IP in four starts this year.
After three straight days without a game the 51s will pass over Carlos Torres and Darin Gorski in the rotation.  D J Mitchell threw a game in extended spring training on Tuesday and will join the AAA rotation soon.
Zack Wheeler has struck out 21 and walked 12 over 18.1 IP in four starts.   His FIP is 3.58 despite all the walks because he’s only allowed 1 homer, while the 27% line drive rate is significantly higher than his 16-18% over the past few years.

 

AA: Binghamton Mets (11-9) off

The B-Mets travel home to take on Akron and Erie.  Binghamton won 3 of 4 in Akron (8-12) and then split two in Erie to start the season.  As a team Akron is hitting .261 with a .702 OPS, and are near the bottom of the EL in ERA (4.85) and whip (1.57)
Binghamton leads the EL in ERA (3.82)  and has a whip of 1.46.  The B-Mets batters are hitting .246 with a .691 OPS, and are next to last in the EL with 8 homers.
