Michael Fulmer. Michael Fulmer: 6 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. He induced five groundball outs, and needed only two in the air. All four hits he allowed were singles. The 19-year old is up to fourth in the SAL in ERA (2.67) and is third in WHIP (1.09). He’s just a better pitcher in nearly every respect than he was at the beginning of the year. He’s commanding his fastball, which is generally 93-94 mph, better to both sides. His slider has made progress and helped him keep some Braves off-balance.
Behind the Wheeler/Harvey grouping, Fulmer is at the top of the next class of Mets’ pitching prospects in A-ball and below, that includes Domingo Tapia and Steven Matz. It’s not hard to squint and see a nice big league rotation regular in a few years.
Erik Goeddel’s ERA rose to 4.09: 6.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 8 K
