Colorado Springs Sky Sox (COL) 6, @ Las Vegas 51s 2

Colorado Spring broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the 7th inning against the Vegas bullpen and held on to beat the 51s 6-2 at Cashman Field.51s Logo

RHP Matt Fox started for the 51s and was much improved after a terrible appearance June 8 against Tacoma, when he allowed eight runs. On this night, he surrendered just two runs in six strong innings but took the loss because the 51s gave him little run support. Fox (1-3) has made six starts since being signed as a free agent in mid-May and has given up three runs or less in five of the six.

Zach Lutz had his second multi-hit game since returning from the DL June 11, going 2 for 4 with a double and a triple. He has the batting average up to .280, with a .804 OPS in 161 at-bats.

Ike Davis was 1 for 4 (single) on Friday and is now 3 for 15 since being demoted. On a positive note, at least he didn’t strike out.

Notes: Wilmer Flores was 0 for 4, ending his five game hitting streak….Mike Baxter was 1 for 4 and has at least one hit in all five games since being demoted….Francisco Pena was 1 for 3 and now has a three game hitting streak.
