Sacramento River Cats 6, @Las Vegas 51s 10
Carrying the momentum from a walkoff win Wednesday night, the Las Vegas 51s (8-7) posted five runs in the first three innings Thursday and went on to beat the Sacramento River Cats (A’s) 10-6 at Cashman Field.
The 51s offense, which had been held to four runs combined the previous two games, expolded for 10 runs on 13 hits on their way to taking two of three games against the River Cats (7-8). The 51s have now won both early season series against Sacramento (they took three of four games in California’s capital city to start the campaign).
Wilmer Flores, who was the designated hitter tonight after playing the first two games of the series at second base, hit his first homerun of the season, a two-run shot in the 7th. Flores also drove in a run on a groundout in the bottom of the 5th and now has nine RBI on the season.
3b Brian Bixler duplicated his offensive line from the previous night, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. cf Juan Lagares also stayed hot with two more hits, including a 6th inning triple, and scored a pair of runs. Lagares is now hitting .359 for the season and is getting more disciplined at the plate.
Darin Gorski (1-1) started for the 51s and was good enough to win, lasting 5.2 innings, surrendering three runs (all earned) on six hits, striking out four without a walk. Greg Burke made his first relief appearance for Las Vegas after being sent down by the Mets April 17 and recorded a scorless inning without allowing a hit.
