Daily Recap: Monday, July 28 games

Salt Lake 3 – Las Vegas 5: Catcher Kevin Plawecki returned to the Las Vegas lineup for the first time since July 17 and made an immediate impact with two base hits and a run batted in. He had been on the disabled list with vertigo. SS Matt Reynolds extended his hitting streak to three games with a 3-for-4 night. It’s his first three-hit effort since July 19 and moved his batting average back above .300. John Lannan made his first start for the 51s after spending the last month with St. Lucie and he was outstanding. New Hampshire 5 – Binghamton 1: Brandon Nimmo extended his hitting streak to four games with a single and walked once. The walk was his eighth in his last 10 games played. Steven Matz had his worst start at the Double-A level since June 21, which was his first game after being promoted. The 23-year-old gave up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings. The 10 hits are the most he’s given up in a start in his professional career. Jace Boyd had a pair of singles, extending his hit streak to four games. >>Read more at MiLB.com


Dunedin 6 - St. Lucie 7 (12): Albert Cordero drove in Gavin Cecchini with the winning run in the bottom of the 12th. Cecchini had singled with one out in the frame prior to scoring, one of his three singles on the night. Wilfredo Tovar played his third rehab game in the FSL and had a big night, going 3-for-4 with a triple, double, two walks and two rbi. Savannah 0 – Lexington 7, game 1: The Sand Gnats offense mustered only two hits and the defense committed three errors. Yeixon Ruiz had a double and has hit safely in four of his last five games. Matt Oberste had the other knock and has a hit in 25 of his last 27 games. >>Read more at MiLB.com

Savannah 7 – Lexington 2, game 2: Dominic Smith reached base all four plate appearances, with two singles and two walks. He also scored twice. 3B Cole Frenzel was 2-for-3 with a homer, double, walk and three driven in. Matt Oberste also drove in three runs with a double. >>Read more at MiLB.com


Brooklyn 8 – Lowell 5: Michael Conforto has now hit safely in all 10 games as a professional after collecting a single in the 7th inning. He also walked and scored twice and is batting .395 for the Cyclones. Amed Rosario was 2-for-5 with a double to raise his average to .303. Kingsport 1 – Danville 7: The K-Mets offense managed only three singles. Eudor Garcia had one of them and has hit safely in seven of his last 10 games. Oswald Caraballo had another but has just two knocks in his last 28 at-bats. Wuilmer Becerra had the night off. >>Read more at MiLB.com


GCL Mets 3 - GCL Cardinals 5: Third baseman Alvin Maracaro was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in. SS Alfredo Reyes reached twice on a walk and single and scored a run. Milton Ramos was hitless in a pair of at-bats but did drive in a run. >>Read more at MiLB.com
