This is to make up for the 7/1 postponement.  Fort Myers was rained out last night in Charlotte.  Matt Summers faced Binghamton in his last start (5.1 IP, 1 H, 4 BB, 7 K) leaving him with a 6.56 ERA in 6 AA starts.  T.J. Rivera is hitting .366/ .410/ .437 in August, raising his overall line to .291/ .348/ .350

A: West Virginia Power [PIT] (36-23) @ Savannah Sand Gnats (28-28) Listen
Friday 7:05 ET – HP Luis Heredia (4-3, 3.42) vs. RHP Luis Cessa (7-3, 3.08)

After a couple of makeup games early this week the Gnats are in a stretch of 11 games in 8 days, including a double header tomorrow.
Luis Cessa returns from having his turn skipped for another (and possibly last of the year) start.  On Aug 11th he went 4.2 IP, allowing a run on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3.

A-Sh: Brooklyn Cyclones (31-31) @ Vermont LakeMonsters [OAK] (29-33) Listen
Friday 7:05 ET – RHP Miller Diaz (4-3, 2.54) vs. RHP Lou Trivino (3-3, 2.79)

The Cyclones just can’t find their way away from .500 losing the last two after winning 7 out of 10, including 2 of 3 against Vermont at home.  Aberdeen has scuffled lately as well keeping the Cyclones just 1.5 games back.
Miller Diaz faced Vermont on Aug 17th, pitching well (6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 7 K) in a loss.
Lou Trivino beat the Cyclones (and Miller) six days ago, shutting them out for 5 IP allowing just 5 hits and striking out 2.

R: Kingsport Mets (34-25) @ Bluefield Blue Jays (39-20)
Friday 7:05 ET – RHP Brandon Welch (1-0, 4.50) vs. RHP Chase DeJong (2-2, 3.45)

With the win last night and a Greeneville loss the K-Mets have moved into first place by a half game.  Elizabethtown is 1.5 games back.  Brandon Welch picked up a win in his first APPY league start (6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K).  He had allowed just 6 hits and 2 walks in 11 IP in the GCL.

AAA: Fresno Grizzlies (63-69) @ Las Vegas 51s (74-57) Listen
Friday 10:05 ET – RHP Mitch Lively (7-5, 4.92) vs. RHP Jake deGrom (4-2, 3.93)

Jacob deGrom allowed just 2 hits and 2 walks over 6 IP in his last start, against Salt Lake. He’s reached ~30 IP more than last year, but his season didn’t start until May last year as he spent April in extended spring training. Its been reported that deGrom (and Montero) would be allowed to pitched through the PCL playoffs.
Greg Burke was optioned to AAA so some roster filler could be added to the Mets rotation. With recently signed Mitch Talbot also still needing to be added to the roster the 51s might actually have more pitching than they can use.
