C Travis d’Arnaud and Lucas Duda played nine innings for the first time each in their third GCL rehab game. They both repeated the feat on Saturday. d’Arnaud was 1-for-4 Friday and 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI on Saturday. d’Arnaud is 6-for-15 with two doubles, a walk and a strikeout in his four GCL rehab games.
Saturday, Jon Niese made his first GCL start. It was not numerically appealing: 2 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K. On the plus side, he’s throwing in games.
Duda was 0-for-4. Including Saturday’s performance, Duda is 0-for-13 on his rehab assignment with eight strikeouts in 13 AB.
With a 1-for-4 Saturday, 1B Dominic Smith ran his hitting streak to 10-straight games. He’s hit .387/.500/.581 with eight walks and eight strikeouts in those 10 contests and .256/.362/.395 overall as an 18-year-old.
Friday, RHP Andrew Church, the Mets’ second round pick this year, made his best start, putting together five scoreless innings with four strikeouts, a walk and two hits allowed.
