Hudson Valley Renegades Extend Cyclones To Game Three

SSA: @ Hudson Valley Renegades (TB) 8, Brooklyn Cyclones 1

After a rainout Saturday, the Hudson Valley Renegades blew out the Cyclones on Sunday evening to force a deciding game three in the first round of the New York-Penn League playoffs.

This was a close game, 3-1, going into the seventh inning, when the Renegades attacked the Brooklyn bullpen for five runs in the final two frames to account for the final margin.

Luis Mateo (pictured) was ok, but not great: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. The third run, in the fifth inning, scored with the help of a SS Philip Evans fielding error.

The Cyclones’ offense collected just six hits, all singles. CF Brandon Nimmo was 1-for-4 from the top of the order.

The two teams play game three Monday night at 6:05 pm. The Cyclones are the final Mets affiliate still playing this year.
