Over at Scout.com, Kiley McDaniel has his latest mock draft out. He has the Mets’ tied to Georgia HS OF Austin Meadows at #11.
His comment, excerpted:
The Mets appear to have been able to narrow down their realistic draft board to Meadows, Peterson and Renfroe, in that order. … I think this is Meadows floor, although his market has been tough to pin down all spring.
I trust that McDaniel has at least some viable industry sources. He goes to a ton of amateur games and events, and spends his time around scouts, cross-checkers and scouting directors. Also, he’s worked in multiple organizations so he probably has a few people he can lean on for tips.
At John Sickels’ Minorleagueball.com, Matt Garrioch put up a mock draft on Saturday. He has the Mets selecting Georgia HS OF Clint Frazier (in a scenario with Renfroe, Meadows and Arkansas RHP Ryne Stanek off the board. I don’t get the feel that Garrioch is working off the kind of connections with teams that would make this at all predictive.
