Ernie Banks would be pleased…
Logan Verrett threw an inning in the EL all star game on the 10th, his last start for Binghamton was on the 4th, when he was bumped out in the third. He’s tied for 4th in the EL in innings pitched, 4 IP behind the leader who has made 2 more starts.
Taylor Rogers also made his last start on the 4th, when he gave up 6 runs (2 ER) on 5 hits and 3 walks over 4.2 IP. On June 19th he allowed the B-Mets 6 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks over 3.2 IP. Richmond is 2-11/3-10 in July.
A+: Dunedin Blue Jays (8-12) @ St. Lucie Mets (11-10) Listen
Completion of 7/14, Mon 5:00 ET – TBA vs. RHP Domingo Tapia (2-5, 3.79)
Monday’s Game to follow – RHP Jesse Hernandez (5-6, 3.15) vs. RHP Rainy Lara (2-3, 2.70)
Domingo Tapia struck out 7 and walked 1 over 6.2 IP in his last start. It put his season numbers at 65 K/35 BB over 71.1 IP
Rainy Lara walked 5 and struck out 1 in his last outing (against Ft. Myers) which was an aberration for him as he had walked 6 in 8 starts in the SAL, and then 7 in his first 6 FSL starts. He has thrown 22.2 more innings than he did for the Cyclones last year.
Luis Diaz and Steven Matz worked the first 5 innings to a 1-1 draw Saturday, leaving the game to Jake Kuebler today.
Luis Cessa has already thrown 13 more innings than last year, but shows no signs of slowing down having struck out 9, walked 2 and allowed 6 hits over 5 IP in his last start.
The rainout on Friday will now be made up on August 31st, and Saturday’s rainout will likely be made up on labor day as these two teams wrap up the season in Savannah. Extra arms from Kingsport should be available then.
