Monday’s Cuts

scissorsThe Mets released nine players, including Chris Schwinden, from minor league camp on Monday. Schwinden is the only one of this group who has played in the big leagues.

1. Chris Schwinden – Schwinden, who turned 27 last September, has been hanging out in AAA since 2013. In Buffalo, Columbus, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Las Vegas, he’s run a 4.49 ERA over 421 innings. He’s allowed 460 hits, and 324 K/131 BB. Oh, and in the big leagues, he’s had a 55+ ERA, 6.98 ERA in 29.2 innings with 38 hits allowed.
2. Joe Bonfe – Bonfe turned 26 in December after hitting .245/.301/.309 in 44 games for Binghamton in 2013 while mostly playing first base and leftfield.
3. Mark Cohoon – Cohoon bounced right from Savannah to Binghamton in 2010 and was effective for the second half of the 2010 season in AA. However, the soft-tossing lefty has never had any success in AAA: 6.77 ERA, 20 starts, 102.1 innings, 136 hits, 55 K, 41 BB.
4. Chris Garcia – Garcia’s release is notable for the fact that never played an official game as a Met. Signed this off-season, he was last spotted in 2012 with the Braves where he hit .285/.408/.431 in 125 games for advanced-A Lynchburg.
5. Jhonathan Torres - 5.29 and 47/10 K/BB ratio in 34 innings in Kingsport in 2010. Hasn’t been spotted since.
6. Christian Chivilli
7. Eris Peguero
8. James Roche
9. Ernesto Yanez
