At Baseball Prospectus, Jason Parks has his list of the 50 best prospects currently in the minor leagues. He slots Noah Syndergaard at #23 and Travis d’Arnaud at #28.
His comment on Syndergaard:
Prospect Trajectory: Up; has the combination of size and stuff to continue to climb the prospect ranks; a strong second half could propel him into top 10 discussion this offseason.
Prospect Trajectory: Down; can’t stay healthy; has dual threat potential at premium position; hard to project 2014 status because of current injury.
So, who’s the Mets’ top prospect right now, the 24-year-old d’Arnaud or the 20-year-old Syndergaard?
I’ll take d’Arnaud, who I think has a chance to be a well above average catcher, basically as soon as he’s healthy, for now.
