Saturday 4/20 Games

With a whole Saturday to work with why are the Mets and Knicks both playing at 3:00?
On the other hand Mets minor league action is spread across the whole day today.

AA: Binghamton Mets (8-7) @ New Hampshire Fisher Cats (8-8) Listen
Saturday 1:35 ET – RHP Rafael Montero (2-0, 2.16) vs. RHP Marcus Walden (0-2, 5.27)

Rafael Montero beat New Hampshire six days ago, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and a 1 walk while striking out 6 over 5 IP.  He’s totaled 21 K to 1 BB on the year.  Alonzo Harris is hitting .179/.200/.205 over his last 9 games.  Marcus Walden has struck out 7 and walked 4 while allowing 26 hits (.406 BAA) over 13.2 IP / 3 starts

 

 

A: Savannah Sand Gnats (8-7) @ Lakewood Blue Claws (4-12) Listen
Saturday 4:05 ET – RHP Rainy Lara (1-1, 0.79) vs. RHP Josh Warner (1-1, 3.38)

Josh Warner has struck out 13 and walked 7 over his 16 IP this year, and will be making his 4th start.
Rainy Lara has struck out 13 and walked 2 over his 11.1 IP this year in two starts.  Tyler Venderheiden joined the Savannah roster in place of Tim Peterson.  Venderheiden struck out 22 and walked 10 in 22 IP last year, on his way to 12 saves for the Cyclones.

 

 

A+: Fort Myers Miracle (14-1) @ St. Lucie Mets (9-6) Listen
Saturday 6:30 ET – RHP Tom Stuifbergen (1-0, 2.41) vs. RHP Domingo Tapia (1-1, 3.55)

Tom Stuifbergen has struck out 12 and walked 0 over 18.1 IP this year.  The 24 year old righty from the Netherlands has been with the Twins since 2007, and has spent the last two years at the FSL level, making 42 appearances, striking out 131 and walking 31 over 209.2 IP.
In Domingo Tapia‘s two home starts he’s allowed 2 runs on 9 hits and 2 BB while striking out 11 over 12 IP.  In his road start he walked 4 while failing to get out of the first inning.  Travis Taijeron hit his first homer of the year last night, and is hitting .333/.432/.566 over his last 9 games.

 

 

AAA: Las Vegas 51s (9-7) @ Colorado Springs Sky Sox [COL] (9-6) Listen
Saturday 7:05 ET – RHP Chris Schwinden (1-2, 8.10) vs. RHP Aaron Cook (0-1, 12.15)

Chris Schwinden and Aaron Cook faced each other five days ago in a 19-5 Sky Sox win.    Schwinden went 3.2 IP allowing 8 runs, albeit 4 were unearned, he walked 4 and gave up 2 homers as part of 7 hits, giving him the loss.  PCL batters are hitting .323 with 5 homers against Schwinden.  Cook wasn’t sharp, but limited the damage, walking 4 and allowing 3 runs in 4 IP.  The Sky Sox pen restored order while the 51s pen tacked on 11 more runs.  The temps are expected to be in the low 50′s in Colorado Springs this evening, with some high winds on Monday as the only potential weather problems for this trip to Colorado.
