Some minor league action to peruse while you consider what the Mets could get in a trade of R.A. Dickey…
AAA: Charlotte Knights (57-44) (CH-AL) @ Buffalo Bisons (51-49) 7:05
LHP Charles Leesman 7-8, 2.82 vs. RHP Matt Harvey 7-4, 3.34
If Matt Harvey makes his start it will in all likelyhood rule him out of Wednesday’s game where the Mets will need a replacement for Johan Santana. The Bisons offense worked out 11 walks last night, and are over 400 for the year, second in the IL. A few more hits would have gone a long way.
AA: Binghamton Mets (46-52) @ Bowie BaySox (49-49) 6:35
RHP Gonzalez Germen 6-6, 4.17 vs. LHP Jacob Pettit 7-2, 3.94
Wilmer Flores lines up at 3B, with Jefry Marte at 1B. Francisco Pena went 2 of 4 last night with a double. He’s hitting .214/.298/.414 for Binghamton. With last nights start Zach Wheeler’s ERA rose from 2.39 to 2.99 and he fell from 2nd to 5th in the EL.
A+: St. Lucie Mets (11-18) @ Dunedin Blue Jays (14-15) 6:30 ET
RHP Yohan Almonte 7-4, 5.92 vs. RHP Shawn Griffith 4-2, 6.27
Almonte and Montero both pitched five days ago as St. Lucie lost a double header. Alonzo Harris had the lone hit last night, he’s 5 of his last 18 with 2 doubles and 4 stolen bases. Offensive bright spots are few and far between on St. Lucie lately, nearly being no hit for the second time this month.
A: Rome Braves (16-12) @ Savannah SandGnats (11-17) 6:05 ET
RHP David Starn 0-0, 7.56 vs. LHP James Fuller 2-2, 6.00
Jimmy Fuller is looking to bounce back from 8 ER in 3.1 IP in his last start. Overall he’s allowed 15 hits and 6 BB, with 12 K in 15 IP. Greg Pron is hitting .425/.439/.650 over his last ten, and Dustin Lawley is 10 for his last 30, and is hitting .293/.341/.512 over his last ten.
SSA: Brooklyn Cyclones (20-12) @ Staten Island Yankees (13-19) 7:00 ET
RHP Luis Cessa 2-1, 3.16 vs. LHP Evan Rutckyj 2-3, 4.02
Phillip Evans is hitting .273/.333/.295 with 4 BB and 6 K over his last ten, and seems to be bouncing back after an early July slump. Toby didn’t mention Brandon Nimmo for the first time since the Cyclones season started, so I guess I should… last night he was 1 of 5 with 3 K and no BB, but is still 12 of his last 33 (.364).
R: Greeneville Astros (19-11) @ Kingsport Mets (8-19) 6:00 ET
RHP John Gant 1-1, 5.85 vs. RHP Adran Houser 1-2, 2.97
John Gant went 5.1 IP scoreless in his last start, allowing 4 hits and 2 BB, with 6 K to pick up his first win as a professional. Gavin Cecchini is hitting .256/.323/.349 with 9 BB and 18 K on the year.
