Short-Season Teams Tuesday: Michael Fulmer Returns

R (GCL): GCL Mets 6, GCL Cardinals 1

Easily the most important thing to happen in the system Tuesday: Michael Fulmer’s first appearance in a box score following spring training meniscus surgery. By the box score, he was excellent: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. If he can go six innings, I’d wager that he is ready to rejoin the St. Lucie rotation.

SSA: @ Hudson Valley Renegades (TB) 6, Brooklyn Cyclones 5 (10 innings)

The Cyclones gave Miller Diaz a five-run lead in the top of the first inning, but four Brooklyn errors, including one from Diaz himself, helped squander Brooklyn’s early advantage.

LHP Juan Urbina, who started in the Brooklyn Cyclones’ bullpen last year before pitching his way into a demotion to Kingsport. On Tuesday, he managed two scoreless innings with a strikeout.

LF Jared King doubled in a two-for-four night with a walk as the Mets’ fifth round pick is now hitting .292/.393/.375 (7-for-24) in six games.

R (APP): @ Bristol White Sox 9, Kingsport Mets 7

Yuck. Opening Night starter Martires Arias: 4 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 1 K.

SS Amed Rosario had the night off.
