Short Season Tuesday: NYPL All-Star Game,

SS-A:  AL All-Stars 4, NL All-Stars 3

The Brooklyn Cyclones were well represented in the NYPL All-Star game.  Darrell Ceciliani (0-1, BB) started in CF and hit leadoff, Cory Vaughn (1-2, run, SB) started in RF and hit 3rd, and Joe Bonfe (0-2) started at 3B hitting 7th.  Jeff Flagg (0-2) entered the game as the backup 1B.

On the mound Yohan Almonte was the starting pitcher for the NL team, delivering a flawless frame.  The most impressive performance by a Cyclone belonged to Angel Cuan.  Cuan came on in the fourth inning, and struck out all three batters to face him.  Unfortunately Ryan Fraser did not fair as well.  Fraser came in the bottom of the eighth inning, with runners on first and third and one out.  He allowed the tying run to score on a sacrifice fly, and the go-ahead run to score on a single.  Fraser was charged with a blown save.

SS-R: Bristol White Sox @ Kingsport Mets- PPD RAIN

SS-R: GCL Cardinals 8, @ GCL Mets 5

Julio Concepcion (2-2, 3B, RBI) raised his season totals to .304/.344/.529.  However, the 20-year old Concepcion did leave the game early.  No word on if an injury took place.

DH Francisco Pena (1-4, RBI)

CF Tillman Pugh (2-4, SB, 2RBI)

3B Alexander Sanchez (2-4, 2B)

OF Dylan Brown (1-2, 2 runs, 2B, RBI)

Francisco Pena seems to be hitting a little better since his return from injury then he had ever in the Mets system..

I know extremely small sample size… but the 2 walks to 1 K and 4 hits in 14 AB’s is better then he’s ever done. He’s still young enough that something could click and he figures it out no?
