Sunday early games

A+: Jupiter Hammerheads (32-36) @ St. Lucie Mets (33-30) Listen
Sunday 10:30 AM – RHP Jake Esch (2-9, 4.01) or RHP Jose Urena (10-7, 3.73) vs. RHP Domingo Tapia (2-9, 4.86) or LHP Angel Cuan (8-3, 3.68)

St. Lucie and Jupiter wrap up their seasons with an early start.  They will not make up yesterday’s rain out, it is the 9th game St. Lucie has lost to weather this year.  Everyone to fall instructs…
Jose Urena has walked just 29 in 149.2 IP this year. He walked 29 last year in low A and 29 in 2011 (in far fewer IP) in short season A ball.
Domingo Tapia had one of his better starts in Jupiter on July 3rd when he shutout the Hammerheads for 6.2 IP allowing 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 5. He has the chance to end the year on back to back good starts as he limited Charlotte to 2 unearned runs on 3 hits and 5 walks over 7 IP five days ago. Otherwise this is just a contest between two eliminated teams with two pitchers trying to avoid 10 losses.  Angel Cuan has walked just 22 over 100.1 IP for St. Lucie. with 2 IP or more Cuan will end the year leading St. Lucie in IP despite never really being in the teams plans as a starter, and if he picks up the win today he would tie for the team lead in wins.
Reliever Randy Fontanez has gone 9-7 over 45 appearances, striking out 83 and walking 17 over 60.2 IP.  He should see a similar role with Binghamton next year.

A: Greenville Drive (27-40) @ Savannah Sand Gnats (34-33) Listen
Sunday 2:05 ET – LHP Francisco Taveras (2-5, 7.19) vs. RHP Seth Lugo (2-1, 2.42)

Seth Lugo has struck out 31 and walked 3 over 26 IP in the SAL limiting batters to a .215 BA against him. He would likely be in line for a start should Savannah advance in the playoffs. He has thrown just 13.2 IP more than he did in 2011 with Kingsport.
