Thursday 4/11 Games

the Binghamton home opener highlights the nights action.

AA: New Hampshire Fisher Cats [TOR] (4-3) @ Binghamton Mets (4-2) Listen
Thursday 6:35 ET – RHP Deck McGuire (0-1, 5.79) vs. RHP Logan Verrett (1-0, 4.50)

Logan Verrett let in 3 runs on 4 hits (1HR) and 2 BB in his first start, striking out 2 over 6 IP.   Binghamton went 33-37 at home last year, splitting ten against NH.  B-Met pitchers have totaled 48 strike outs to 13 walks so far, with the starters racking up a 34 to 5 mark.  Countering that B-Mets batters have struck out 50 times and walked 18 times.
Deck McGuire first start of 2013 (4.2 IP, 6 hits, 3 BB, 7 K) went a lot like his 2012 with New Hampshire where he gave up 162 hits and 62 BB in 144 IP.  The Blue Jays 2010 first round pick (11th overall) out of Georgia Tech stands 6’6″ features deception and decent command of a sinking fastball.

A+: St. Lucie Mets (5-1) @ Palm Beach Cardinals (4-2) Listen
Thursday 6:35 ET – RHP Domingo Tapia (0-0, 0.00) vs. RHP Sam Gaviglio (1-0, 1.80)

Domingo Tapia‘s first start was a 6 inning shutout no decision in which he struck out 3 walked 1 and allowed 4 hits, with 10 ground outs.
As we learned yesterday Sam Gaviglio allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 5 IP in his first start, striking out 5 and walking none.

Savannah will return to Rome in June and twice in August, a double header tomorrow is not in the plans.
