Thursday 7/19 Games

AAA: Buffalo Bisons 9, Toledo MudHens 8

Just in case you were starting to think Fernando Cabrera could help the Mets bullpen 2 IP, 3 hits, 3 BB, 1 K, 4 ER to blow a 3 run lead in the ninth.  The Bisons rallied in the bottom of the ninth, Brad Emaus doubled, Adam Loewen singled, Zach Lutz walked, and Raul Reyes singled in the tying and winning runs.
Chris Schwinden went 5 IP striking out 6, walking none, and allowing 8 hits.  69% of his pitches were strikes, many of them were hit-able.

A+: St. Lucie Mets (11-16) @ Dunedin Blue Jays [TOR] (12-15) 6:30 ET
RHP Erik Goeddel 2-4, 3.80 vs. LHP Egan Smith 8-5, 3.17

Goeddel last win was on May 16th, he’s allowed 69 base runners in his last 36 IP, which adds up to a 5.75 ERA.  It’s getting tough to find anyone on St. Lucie who is on a hot streak.  Kolarek has been on one all year, holding leftys to a .143 BAA on the year, while rightys are at .257

A: Rome Braves [ATL] (14-12) @ Savannah SandGnats (11-15) 7:05 ET
LHP Alex Wood 0-2, 3.00 vs. RHP Mike Fulmer 5-5, 2.76

Fulmer’s ERA continues to fall as each month has been better than the previous one this year.  He’s allowing batters to hit .119 against him in July, after .163 in June.  The 19 year old from Oklahoma is putting himself in a position for a call to the FSL just a year after being drafted out of high school.

SSA:  Brooklyn Cyclones (19-11) @ Staten Island Yankees (12-18) 7:05 ET
RHP Gabriel Ynoa 1-1, 3.30 vs. LHP Jeremy Bleich 0-0, 3.52

Brooklyn opens a four game set with the State Island Yankees which will alternate sites.  The Cyclones opened the NYPL season with Ynoa beating SI on the way to taking three of four from the Yankees.  Bleich missed all of 2011 after pitching the prior two years in AA.

R: Bristol White Sox (7-20) @ Kingsport Mets (6-19) 7:00 ET
TBA vs. LHP Steven Matz 0-1, 2.65

Matz has walked 11 and struck out 17 while holding batters to .190 over his four starts so far.  His ERA is a little misleading as half of his 10 runs allowed have been unearned.  Bristol doesn’t seem to get the concept of announcing starting pitchers…
