AAA: Buffalo Bisons (11-10)
The Bisons are off tonight and return home tomorrow to play the Rochester Red Wings (MIN) in a four game set. Jeurys Familia gets the start.
AA: Binghamton Mets (10-8) vs. New Hampshire Fisher Cats (TOR) (7-11) – 6:35
RHP Greg Peavey (2-0, 3.14) vs. RHP Yohan Pino (0-0, 3.86)
Over the first six games of the homestand, the B-Mets have hit .338 as a team (68-201) averaging 11.3 hits per game.
Binghamton was last in the league in hitting (.229) entering the homestand and now sit in third with a .266 team batting average. Gotta love what a few games in April can do for your stats!
OF Matt Den Dekker, who has been hot as of late, is just 2-13 (.154) batting against LHP this season—something he clearly needs to improve on to get to the next level.
A+: St. Lucie Mets (15-4) @ Jupiter Hammerheads (MIA) (9-10) – 6:30
RHP Erik Goeddel (0-0, 3.00) vs. LHP Edgar Olmos (0-0, 3.60)
Goeddel makes his first start of 2012 after battling shoulder issues last season. The righty from UCLA went three innings on April 20th, allowing 3 hits including 1 home run while walking 2 and striking out 1. St. Lucie will likely use a six-man rotation with Goeddel back in the fold.
From ESPN NY’s Adam Rubin:
“Mets officials are very pleased with 20-year-old Wilfredo Tovar’s play at shortstop for St. Lucie. Compared with Ruben Tejada because both have solid instincts at the position, Tovar may have a better arm and hands.”
Tovar is currently hitting .321/.387/.411 in 17 games.
A-: Savannah Sand Gnats (11-9) @ West Virginia Power (PIT) (6-13) – 7:05
RHP Domingo Tapia (1-0, 2.55) vs. LHP Zack Dodson (0-1, 4.20)
With the offense struggling badly, it’s all about Tapia tonight. Tapia has struck out 20 and walked just 2 in 17.2 innings.
