AAA: Buffalo Bisons (51-52) @ Louisville Bats (CIN) (38-66) 7:05
RHP Chris Schwinden 4-7, 3.39 vs. RHP Chad Reineke 3-7, 4.90
Chris Schwinden remains in AAA, the rest of the Bisons pitching staff is now on the Mets roster. Schwinden has not gone more than 6 IP since April. Lucas Duda and Jean-Luc Blaquire join the Bisons roster.
AA: Binghamton Mets (47-54) @ NewBritain RockCats (57-45) 7:05
LHP Mark Cohoon 4-7, 3.59 vs. RHP Blake Martin 3-3, 3.98
With the openings in the Bisons rotation, Mark Cohoon appears set to remain in AA this time. With Cory Mazzoni on the DL it will be interesting to see how they round out the upper level rotations. Options ready for promotions from St. Lucie are slim.
A+: Bradenton Marauders (18-12) @ St. Lucie Mets (12-19) 6:30 ET
RHP Matt Benedict 0-4, 10.03 vs. RHP Rafael Montero 2-2, 2.30
Three starts ago Benedict gave up 5 runs in 1 IP to St. Lucie. Montero has allowed a single run in each of his last three starts, losing two of them. Overall in the FSL batters are hitting .202 against him with 8 BB to 33 K in 31.1 IP. If someone from St. Lucie gets the call to AA he may be at the top of that list.
A: Kannapolis Intimidators (13-17) @ Savannah SandGnats (13-18) 7:05
LHP Chris Hanna 1-0, 4.62 vs. RHP Jacob DeGrom 5-3, 2.55
Hanna’s last outing was a week ago against Kingsport, pitching for Bristol on rehab. Lefty Carlos Vazquez is holding right handed batters to .182 as well as keeping LH batters in check .193.
SSA: Aberdeen IronBirds (12-23) @ Brooklyn Cyclones (20-13) 7:00 ET
RHP David Richardson 2-2, 3.48 vs. RHP Rainy Lara 4-1, 3.03
The Cyclones lost an afternoon game to the IronBirds to wrap up their series. The starters pitched to a 2-2 tie through six, when Tim Peterson entered for the Cyclones and allowed 3 runs in the 7th. Brandon Nimmo and Stefan Sabol each had RBI doubles. Nimmo added a BB and 2 K’s in a 1 of 3 day.
R: Elizabethton Twins (23-11) @ Kingsport Mets (9-21) 7:00 ET
LHP Corey Kimes 3-0, 3.48 vs. RHP Akeel Morris 0-4, 9.74
With 5 more hits Akeel Morris will equal his hits allowed total from last year (11 G, 51.1 IP last year) in his sixth start. He has cut his walk rate from 6.7/9 to 3.1/9 while his hit rate has gone from 5.25/9 up to 11.1/9 which seems absurd. Highlights the need to locate the edges of the strike zone, even with a fastball as overpowering as his.
