1. Lucas Duda made his first start in AAA this year and was 0-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout while playing rightfield. If the plan was to send him to AAA to play leftfield and first base, putting him in right in his first game is a perplexing decision.
2. Gonzalez Germen was promoted from AA Binghamton to AAA. His line: 7 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. He’s a right-hander who sits 90-91 and can touch 94. He throws strikes, but they’re often over the fat part of the plate. His changeup is his best pitch, as he has good armspeed and some sink. His slider remains below average. He’s been hittable, giving up basically a hit an inning at every stop across Savannah, St. Lucie and Binghamton. As we discussed on twitter last night, I see him as a reliever if he ever reaches the big leagues. He’s just too hittable to go through big league lineups multiple times.
3. Zach Lutz had himself a great night, reaching base in all five of his plate appearances: 3-3, HR, 2 BB, 3 RBI, R.
4. Mike Baxter was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two strikeouts. He should be back within a few days.
The B-Mets were rained out, so they’ll play two on Friday. Cory Mazzoni returned from the disabled list, and will start Friday.
