The 51s scored six of their 11 runs in the 4th inning on their way to beating the Reno Aces 11-4 Wednesday night at Cashman Field. It took just four innings for every player in the 51s staring lineup to have a hit and the third consecutive game they’ve had an inning scoring six or more runs.
In the six-run 4th, Vegas sent 11 batters to the plate and collected eight hits (3 XBH). One of the knocks was a two-run double from Matt den Dekker (4) to center field. He has three straight ballgames with a hit and four rbi over that span. den Dekker came into the night with five strikeouts in his previous nine games but fanned twice Wednesday in four at-bats. Meanwhile, he’s walked four times in his last 10 starts and nine times in 20 games for the 51s. The .225 BA is a concern.
Mike Baxter had his third multi-hit game in the last four days, going 2 for 3 with a triple, two rbi, two runs and two walks. The Vegas left fielder has three extra base hits and five rbi in this solid four game stretch.
RF Jamie Hoffmann picked up two hits in four at-bats, including his fourth homer in the 7th inning. He’s hit safely in eight of the last 10 games, with five multi-hit games mixed in.
Notes: The 51s have won four in a row and seven of eight….Wilmer Flores was 1 for 4 and drove in his 78th rbi….Zach Lutz had two hits, including a double….Matt Fox gave up two earned runs in 5.2IP for the win….Ruben Tejada extended his hitting streak to 11 with a double.
