Wednesday 4/17 Games

AA: Portland Sea Dogs (5-6) @ Binghamton Mets (7-5) Listen
Wednesday 6:35 ET – HP Brandon Workman (2-0, 4.91) vs. RHP Jacob deGrom (1-0, 3.00 FSL)

Brandon Workman may have one of the strangest pitching lines on the young season.  He’s somehow managed to allow 6 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks, with 16 strikeouts.  I thought getting on base and productive outs were needed to score runs… maybe not.
Jake deGrom becomes the second pitcher in three days to earn an early promotion to AA.  In his 2 starts for St. Lucie he has struck out 13 and walked 2 , with 12 hits in 12 IP.

A+: Charlotte Stone Crabs (4-8) @ St. Lucie Mets (9-3) Listen
Wednesday 6:30 ET – RHP Jesse Hahn (0-0, 1.50) vs. RHP Marcos Camarena (0-0, 9.82)

Marcos Camarena gets the start with deGrom off to Binghamton.  He last pitched on Thursday, allowing 3 runs in 3 innings of relief, striking out 4 and walking 2.  Camarena made 11 starts last year and pitched 104.1 IP in 30 total games for Savannah, and in 2011 he was exclusively a starter for Brooklyn.  Wanel Mesa has joined the team to keep them at 13 pitchers.
Jesse Hahn has allowed 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 5 over 6 IP in two starts.  Last year he made 14 starts, but only totaled 52 innings for the HV Renegades in the NYPL.  The Rays do things differently, but … 3 innings starters?

AAA: Sacramento River Cats (7-6) @ Las Vegas 51s (6-7) Listen
Wednesday 10:05 ET – LHP Justin Thomas (0-1, 4.32) vs. RHP Carlos Torres (0-1, 5.19)

Justin Thomas took the loss to the 51’s in his first start on the 6th, start allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, 2 BB, and 6 K over 5 IP.
Carlos Torres faced the River Cats on the 7th, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, 3 BB and 3 K over 5.2 in a game the Vegas pen would lose.
