RHP Collin McHugh 1-3, 4.54 vs. RHP Brett Tomko 0-6, 3.12

Collin McHugh makes his 8th start in AAA, the second time he has faced Louisville.  Adam Loewen is hitting .209/.292/.419 over his last ten and will like be forced to a part time role while Lucas Duda and Mike Baxter are with the Bisons.  That is indeed the same Brett Tomko you’ve seen on a major league team near you over the years.  He is 39 now and has 44 K to 28 BB in 57.2 IP in AAA.

RHP Zach Wheeler 9-6, 3.29 vs. RHP B.J. Hermsen 7-5, 3.38

In his last two starts Wheeler has allowed 16 hits is 7.2 IP with 11K and 3 BB.  With two openings in the Buffalo rotation, Wheeler’s timing couldn’t be worse.  He’s up to 109.1 IP on the year, after throwing 115 IP last year.  The B-Mets begin a 7 game homestand tomorrow night.

RHP Jameson Taillon 5-7, 4.27 vs. RHP Kyle Allen 2-0, 4.38

Five starts ago Taillon shutout the FSL Mets over 7 IP, allowing 1 hit and 3 BB to St. Lucie.  Kyle Allen has pitched in long relief of Chase Hutchingson the last two times through the rotation, allowing 4 hits and 1 BB in 7.2 IP.  This time he’ll get the start instead of the struggling Hutchingson, who failed to get out of the first inning, two starts in a row.

LHP Matthew Lane 3-3, 5.73 vs. RHP Michael Fulmer 3-3, 2.36

Fulmer has allowed 15 base runners while striking out 14 in 18 July innings.  On the year the SAL is hitting .196 against him.

The Cyclones begin a six game road trip in Batavia.  Brandon Nimmo is hitting .167/.300/.238 against left handed pitching, and is 3 for his last 23 overall.

R: Kingsport Mets (9-22) off

The Kingsport squad will play two on Thursday, making up for the July 19th rain out.  They will play four games in three days against the Bristol White Sox.
