AAA: Las Vegas 51s (78-59) @ Colorado Springs SkySox (65-71) Listen
Wednesday 6:35 ET – RHP Jake deGrom (4-2, 4.40) vs. RHP Armando Galarraga (0-2, 6.46)
Wed. Game Two – RHP Daryl Thompson (1-0, 0.00) vs.
RHP Dan Houston (4-6, 3.36)
Saramento won last night and are now 2.5 games back of LasVegas with six days left in the season. The 51s could be anywhere from 1 game up to 4 games up at the end of the day.
Jacob deGrom struggled in his last start, allowing Fresno 6 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks over 5 IP. He continues to be up and down in AAA.
Daryl Thompson has pitched 2.1 IP of scoreless relief for the 51s, last appearing five days ago.
Armando Galarraga went 6-6 with a 2.98 ERA in 16 starts for Louisville before moving on to Colorado. Dan Houston is scheduled, but he pitched in two innings last night so they will need to come up with someone else. This second game looks to feature a lot of relievers giving up crooked numbers as both bullpens have been stretched to the limit over the last two days.
Chasen Bradford got a chance with the AA squad when Binghamton had a string of make up games, a few of which went into extra innings and needed a few fresh arms. He ran with that chance and has put up an excellent two months in AA. In 18 appearances covering 23.1 IP he’s allowed just 18 hits and 6 walks while striking out 17. Only 5 runs have scored on him and 3 of those were unearned. Bradford is a Henderson Nevada native so it would make a nice story if he could win a spot in the 51s pen next year before the Mets nomadic AAA franchise tendencies kick in again. In the meantime he will participate in the Arizona fall league for the Mets.
Mike Wright was the Orioles 2011 third round pick, widely considered an Orioles top 10 prospect entering this year his domination of the Eastern League should jump him towards the top of those lists this off season. Bowie is 4 games out of a playoff spot with 6 games remaining.
Jake Partridge has posted a 1.91 ERA since the beginning of July. While he has walked 52 over 88.2 IP this year he’s issued just 4 free passes during 23.1 IP in August.
Alex Panteliodis has allowed 27 hits over his last 16.2 IP while walking 6 and striking out 7. He has been significantly better at home this year (5-1, 300) than on the road (1-4, 6.64) including 3 shutout performances at home in his last ten starts.
Kyle Westwood has allowed 21 hits and 5 walks over 31.2 IP this year. He has allowed 3 homers, and just 7 runs total.
John Gant is holding lefty batters to a .175 BA with half of his strikeouts in less PAs against LHB. He has struck out 73 and walked 24 in 60.2 IP.

Robert Whalen shutout Bluefield for 7 IP (4 H, 0 BB, 5 K) last Thursday and picked up a win. The K-Mets are still a half game out of first and hold a 2 game lead on a playoff spot, now with just 3 games to go.
