Wednesday Night Game Time Thread

AAA: Buffalo Bisons (33-26) @ Columbus Clippers (CLE) (27-31) – 7:00
RHP Jeurys Familia (4-2, 4.93) vs. LHP Eric Berger (1-2, 5.84)

It’s been a disappointing start for Familia after setting such high hopes in 2011.  He’s averaging 3.18 walks per start.  And when you’re only averaging a little over four innings per start, the results aren’t good.  The sooner he figures out his command, the sooner he’ll get back to pitching the way he did last year.

The Mets recalled Pedro Beato this afternoon.  The righty allowed just one run in nine innings of work over his six Buffalo appearances.  After Tuesday, his arm will surely be welcome.

In 11 appearances since May 13, LHP Josh Edgin is 1-1 with a 1.96 ERA.  Over that span, he has struck out 13 and allowed just nine hits in 13.2 innings.

AA:  Binghamton Mets (26-28) @ Harrisburg Senators (WAS) (31-26) – 7:05
RHP Collin McHugh (5-3, 2.17) vs. LHP Mike Ballard (1-4, 3.12)

McHugh enters tonight’s game owning the fifth-lowest ERA in the league.  Opponents are hitting just .224 vs. him, having allowed just 52 hits in 62.1 innings.

Matt Den Dekker’s three-hit performance last night raised his batting average to .310, currently the ninth-best average in the EL.

A+: St. Lucie Mets (45-13) vs. Clearwater Threshers (PHI) (30-25) – 6:30
RHP Yohan Almonte (5-0, 4.24) vs. LHP Adam Morgan (2-5, 3.55)

If Wilmer Flores stays in the FSL and plays around 130 games, he will roughly be on pace to bat over .300 with 24 doubles and 24 home runs.  His prospect stock will surely rise if he keeps this up.

With about two weeks remaining in the first half schedule, let’s see how high St. Lucie can get that win total.  They won the first half last year with 38 wins.

A-: Savannah Sand Gnats (33-23) vs. Asheville Tourists (COL) (40-17) – 7:05
TBA vs. RHP Daniel Winkler (7-2, 5.03)

The Sand Gnats are first in the league with a team ERA of 2.84.  Their WHIP at 1.14 and just the 20 home runs surrendered are also tops in the league.  A very good sign with the young core of pitchers the Mets have in low A.

Over his last 10 games Ad-Rod is hitting .351/.419/.730 with four home runs.
