7-Day Eczema Diet Plan for Adults & Kids: Foods to Eat and Avoid

If you’re managing eczema, diet plays a vital role in reducing flare-ups and soothing skin. This 7-day meal plan focuses on anti-inflammatory foods that nourish your skin while avoiding common triggers, making it suitable for both adults and kids looking for gentle, skin-friendly nutrition.

Ingredients

  • Oats (rolled or steel-cut) – 1 cup
  • Coconut oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh blueberries – 1 cup
  • Bananas – 2 ripe
  • Almond milk (unsweetened) – 4 cups
  • Fresh spinach – 2 cups
  • Carrots – 3 medium
  • Sweet potatoes – 2 large
  • Fresh salmon fillets – 4 (about 4 oz each)
  • Quinoa – 1 cup
  • Olive oil – 3 tablespoons
  • Fresh turmeric root or powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger root – 1 inch piece
  • Green beans – 1 cup
  • Broccoli florets – 2 cups
  • Fresh herbs (parsley, cilantro) – ½ cup each
  • Raw honey – 2 teaspoons (optional)
  • Sea salt – to taste
  • Black pepper – to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the breakfast options such as oatmeal. In a pot, combine oats with 2 cups of almond milk and a pinch of sea salt. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes until creamy. Stir in 1 tablespoon of coconut oil and top with sliced bananas and blueberries. Set aside.
  2. For lunch, prepare a salmon and quinoa bowl. Rinse the quinoa under cold water. In a pot, combine 1 cup of quinoa with 2 cups of water and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until fluffy. Meanwhile, season salmon fillets with a tablespoon of olive oil, turmeric, ginger, salt, and pepper. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes until cooked through.
  3. While the salmon cooks, steam or roast vegetables. Toss carrots, green beans, and broccoli with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes or steam until tender.
  4. For dinner, prepare a sweet potato mash. Pierce sweet potatoes with a fork and microwave on high for 8-10 minutes until soft. Mash with a tablespoon of coconut oil, a pinch of salt, and chopped herbs. Serve alongside baked salmon and steamed vegetables.
  5. For snacks, blend a smoothie with 1 banana, a handful of spinach, ½ cup of blueberries, 1 cup of almond milk, and a teaspoon of honey if desired. Blend until smooth. Keep refrigerated and consume within 24 hours.
  6. Repeat similar meal preparations throughout the week, varying vegetables and proteins to maintain diversity while sticking to anti-inflammatory, low-allergen foods.
  7. Ensure all meals are free from processed sugars, dairy, eggs, gluten, and nuts if these are known triggers. Use herbs and spices for flavor instead of salt and processed seasonings.
  8. Maintain hydration by drinking plenty of water and herbal teas, avoiding caffeinated and sugary drinks.
  9. Adjust portion sizes according to age, activity level, and individual needs, especially for children.

Tips

  • Substitute salmon with other skin-friendly proteins like cod or turkey if needed, ensuring they are prepared simply to avoid additives.
  • Store cooked grains and roasted vegetables in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to save time.
  • Avoid using processed oils like soybean or corn oil; stick with extra virgin olive or coconut oil for cooking.
  • Be cautious with spice quantities—some individuals may react to certain herbs or spices, so introduce new ingredients gradually.

Serving Suggestions

Serve your meals warm or at room temperature, complemented with fresh herbs for added flavor and nutrients. Incorporate a variety of colorful vegetables to maximize antioxidant intake, which can help reduce inflammation and support skin healing. Remember, consistency is key in an eczema-friendly diet, so try to stick with the plan for best results.
