1. The Artistic Collaboration Behind “Construction Of Souls”
“Construction Of Souls” was crafted through a collaboration between AVATAR’s lead vocalist Johannes Eckerström and renowned producer Jens Bogren, known for his work with Opeth, Amon Amarth, and Katatonia. The song features a blend of AVATAR’s signature melodic metal style with a darker, atmospheric holiday theme. This partnership brought a refined production quality, emphasizing both the orchestral elements and the gritty guitar work that fans love.
2. The Song’s Thematic Content and Lyrics
Unlike typical holiday songs, “Construction Of Souls” explores themes of renewal, introspection, and the spiritual rebuilding that often accompanies the holiday season. The lyrics delve into the idea of reconstructing fractured spirits and fostering hope amidst chaos, which resonates deeply during winter holidays. The poetic verses, penned by Eckerström, evoke a sense of both darkness and light, making it a thought-provoking addition to seasonal playlists.
3. Musical Style and Composition
The track combines AVATAR’s signature heavy riffs, melodic hooks, and symphonic layers to create a sound that’s both grand and intimate. The song’s tempo and dynamics shift effectively, capturing the emotional highs and lows of the holiday narrative, making it compelling for listeners who appreciate complex compositions.
4. Production Quality and Sound Design
Produced by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, “Construction Of Souls” boasts crystal-clear mixing and mastering, highlighting each instrument and vocal nuance. The production emphasizes the orchestral elements, with lush string arrangements that add depth and warmth, contrasting with the heavier guitar layers. This high production value makes the song stand out as a polished, studio-quality holiday release.
5. The Visuals and Music Video
The accompanying music video features cinematic visuals that depict themes of reconstruction and hope, with imagery of broken glass transforming into intricate stained glass windows.
