Berry Infused Water: 20 Benefits, Side Effects & How to Make It

Berry infused water is a refreshing and flavorful way to stay hydrated while enjoying the natural benefits of berries. It’s easy to prepare, customizable, and can boost your daily fluid intake with added antioxidants and vitamins.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 8 cups filtered water
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves or lemon slices for added flavor
  • Sweetener (honey, agave syrup, or stevia) – optional, to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the berries thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt or pesticides.
  2. Slice larger berries like strawberries into halves or quarters for better infusion.
  3. Place the berries into a large pitcher or jar. Add optional mint leaves or lemon slices if desired.
  4. Pour the filtered water over the berries and herbs, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  5. If you prefer a sweeter water, add your chosen sweetener to taste. Stir gently to combine.
  6. Cover the pitcher or jar with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably 4-6 hours, to allow flavors to infuse.
  7. Serve chilled, pouring the berry infused water into glasses. You can refill the pitcher with more water a couple of times before the berries lose their flavor.

Tips

  • Use fresh berries for the best flavor and nutrient content. Frozen berries can be used but may slightly alter the texture.
  • To keep your infused water tasting fresh, consume within 24-48 hours. The berries may start to ferment or spoil after that time.
  • Experiment with different fruit combinations like kiwi and mango or citrus slices for variety.
  • For a stronger flavor, muddle the berries gently before adding water or let the mixture sit longer in the fridge.

Serving Suggestions

Enjoy berry infused water as a revitalizing beverage throughout the day. It’s perfect for hydration during workouts, as a refreshing drink at gatherings, or as a flavorful alternative to plain water. For added elegance, serve in glass bottles or mason jars garnished with extra berries or herbs.
