How to Choose
When selecting ceramic ornaments to paint in bulk, consider the size and shape that best fits your project’s needs. Smooth, unglazed bisque surfaces are essential for paint to adhere properly and produce vibrant colors. Quantity versus quality is another factor: larger sets often reduce cost per piece but may sacrifice uniformity. Also, check if the ornaments come pre-drilled for easy hanging or if you’ll need to drill holes yourself. Lastly, think about the intended use—whether for kids, professional artists, or commercial resale—as this impacts the choice of material thickness and durability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I use acrylic paint on these ceramic ornaments?
Yes, acrylic paint is the most common choice for painting bisque ceramic ornaments because it adheres well and dries quickly.
Q: Do I need to seal the ornaments after painting?
Sealing with a clear acrylic spray or varnish is recommended to protect your artwork and make the ornament more durable.
Q: Are these ornaments microwave or dishwasher safe?
Most unglazed bisque ornaments are not microwave or dishwasher safe, especially after painting, unless specifically stated by the manufacturer.
Q: Can children safely paint these ceramic ornaments?
Yes, but adult supervision is advised, especially with younger children, due to the fragility of ceramic and the use of paint materials.
Q: How do I clean the ornaments before painting?
Wiping with a damp cloth to remove dust is usually sufficient; avoid soaking or harsh chemicals that could damage the surface.
Q: Are there eco-friendly ceramic ornament options available in bulk?
Some Etsy sellers and specialty suppliers offer handmade or naturally sourced ceramic blanks that are more environmentally conscious, but mass-market options typically do not focus on eco-friendliness.
