While the member roles are not fully detailed for some individuals, the timeline helps understand the band’s evolution from 1987 to its end in 1996.
Kyuss released four studio albums during their active years: Wretch (1991), Blues for the Red Sun (1992), Welcome to Sky Valley (1994), and …And the Circus Leaves Town (1995). These albums represent the band’s core output within the timeframe of the members listed.
Josh Homme, as the sole original member, played guitar from the band’s formation in 1987 until 1995, covering the majority of the band’s active period. Other members joined and left at various points, with some roles unspecified in the database. For example, John Garcia’s role and years are not listed, but he is acknowledged as a former member.
Chris Cockrell’s tenure ended in 1990, although his start year remains unknown. Nick Oliveri was active from 1990 to 1993, overlapping with Brant Bjork, whose years span from 1988 to 1994. Alfredo Hernández and Scott Reeder remained with the band until it ended, though their starting years are 1994 and 1993 respectively.
The absence of specific roles for many members in the MusicBrainz data suggests that this information might not have been fully documented or updated in the database. For fans or researchers seeking more detailed role information, this represents a limitation in the publicly available data.
The band’s status is listed as ended, with no current line-up, reflecting that Kyuss ceased activity after 1996. This status is consistent with the member years provided, which all conclude by or before that year.
Since the list excludes session and touring players, it focuses strictly on official members as recognized by MusicBrainz. This ensures that the list maintains accuracy and verifiability based on the database’s criteria.
