Warrant’s current line-up is Erik Turner, Jerry Dixon, Steven Sweet, Joey Allen and Robert Mason. The first four also played in the classic line-up with singer Jani Lane, which made the double-platinum debut Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (1989). Warrant formed in 1984 in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
The band’s commercial peak ran from 1989 to 1996, with five albums reaching international sales of over 10 million. After Dog Eat Dog (1992), the band went through frequent line-up changes, which is why its list of former members is so long.
Erik Turner – Guitar (1984–present)
Erik Turner plays guitar and harmonica and sings backing vocals. He co-founded the band in 1984, though he was absent for periods in 1997–1998, May 2003, and from mid-2024 to early 2025.
Jerry Dixon – Bass (1984–present)
Jerry Dixon has played bass and sung backing vocals since 1984. He has been sporadically absent from shows since 2021, with Robbie Crane covering bass on tour.
Steven Sweet – Drums (1986–1994, 2004–present)
Steven Sweet plays drums and percussion, sings backing vocals and plays harmonica. He was in the classic line-up and returned in 2004.
Joey Allen – Lead Guitar (1987–1994, 2004–present)
Joey Allen plays lead guitar, banjo and harmonica and sings backing vocals. Like Sweet, he left in 1994 and returned in 2004.
Robert Mason – Lead Vocals (2008–present)
Robert Mason has been the lead vocalist since 2008 and also plays additional guitar. He followed Jani Lane’s departure and a period with Black ‘n Blue singer Jaime St. James, who sang on the album Born Again.
Jani Lane – Former Lead Vocalist
Jani Lane was the singer of Warrant’s hit era, including “Heaven”, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Cherry Pie” from the double-platinum album of the same name (1990). He left in the 2000s, and the original line-up later had a brief reunion.
