This article provides a detailed overview of the tour postponement, what it means for fans, and how to make the best choice if you’re considering attending. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of either band or just interested in the logistics of concert scheduling, this guide is tailored for you.
1. Why Was the Tour Postponed?
The postponement of the Deftones and Gojira North American tour was primarily due to ongoing concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Both bands and their management cited health and safety considerations, along with uncertainties related to venue capacities and local restrictions, as key factors. This decision aligns with other major tours that have been delayed or rescheduled in 2021, emphasizing the ongoing impact of the pandemic on live music events.
2. New Dates and Locations
The tour is now scheduled to take place from spring 2022, with specific dates expected to be announced in the coming months. The rescheduled shows will span major cities including Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and Toronto, among others. Fans should keep an eye on official band websites and ticket vendors for updates to ensure they don’t miss the new dates once they’re released.
3. Ticket Refund and Exchange Policies
Ticket holders who purchased tickets for the original dates are generally eligible for refunds or exchanges, depending on the vendor. Most ticket platforms, such as Ticketmaster, have provided clear instructions on how to request refunds or transfer tickets to the new dates. It’s crucial to act promptly to avoid losing the opportunity to attend when the rescheduled shows are announced.
4. Impact on Fans and Ticket Holders
The delay has understandably frustrated many fans eager to see Deftones and Gojira perform live. However, the postponement also provides an opportunity for fans to save up, plan travel, or coordinate with friends for the rescheduled dates. Both bands have expressed their excitement to perform again and appreciate fans’ patience during these unprecedented times.
5. How the Bands Are Engaging Fans During the Wait
While live concerts are on hold, Deftones and Gojira have been active online, sharing behind-the-scenes content, new music snippets, and interactive Q&A sessions. These efforts help maintain a connection with fans and build anticipation for the upcoming tour. Fans are encouraged to follow their official social media channels for the latest updates and exclusive content.
6. Future Tour Plans and Possible Setlists
Both bands have hinted at new material that may be featured during the upcoming tour. Gojira has been working on their sixth studio album, expected to drop in 2022, which could influence their setlist. Deftones, known for their dynamic live shows, are also rumored to introduce fresh tracks alongside their classics, promising an exciting experience for concert-goers.
7. How to Prepare for the Rescheduled Tour
Once dates are announced, fans should purchase tickets early to secure their spot. It’s advisable to check the health guidelines in each city, as some venues might still enforce safety protocols such as mask mandates or proof of vaccination. Preparing travel plans and accommodations well in advance will also help ensure a smooth concert experience.
8. The Importance of Supporting Live Music
Postponements have underscored the fragile nature of the live music industry. Supporting bands by purchasing merchandise, streaming their music, or buying tickets for future shows helps keep the scene vibrant. When the tour finally happens, it will be a celebration of resilience and the power of music to bring people together.
9. How to Stay Informed
Fans should regularly check the official websites of Deftones (deftones.com) and Gojira (gojira-music.com), as well as trusted ticket vendors like Ticketmaster. Following the bands and their management on social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook ensures timely updates and alerts about new dates and ticket sales.
10. Why the Delay Might Be for the Best
Although disappointing, postponing the tour allows for a safer, more enjoyable experience for everyone involved. It also gives the bands time to finalize new material, rehearse thoroughly, and ensure that their stage productions are up to standard. Ultimately, the rescheduling aims to deliver a better live show that fans will cherish for years to come.
How to Choose
When selecting which rescheduled show to attend, consider factors like the venue size, location, and ticket availability. Larger venues may offer better acoustics and sightlines, but smaller clubs can provide a more intimate experience. Also, think about your travel plans, safety protocols, and whether you prefer a specific city or date. Prioritize your comfort and safety, but also keep in mind that the bands are eager to perform for their fans again.
