Detox tea has gained popularity as a natural way to support your body’s cleansing processes, boost metabolism, and improve overall wellness. Made from a blend of herbs and botanicals, this tea works by promoting hydration, aiding digestion, and providing antioxidants that help eliminate toxins.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon dried green tea leaves or 1 green tea bag
- 1 tablespoon dried dandelion root or 1 teaspoon dandelion root powder
- 1 teaspoon dried ginger slices or 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon dried peppermint leaves or fresh peppermint leaves (a handful)
- 1 lemon, sliced
- Honey or natural sweetener (optional, to taste)
- 4 cups filtered water
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of filtered water to a boil in a saucepan or kettle.
- While the water is heating, prepare your herbs: if using dried herbs, measure out the specified quantities. If using fresh herbs, chop or tear them slightly to release flavors.
- Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove from heat. Add the green tea leaves or tea bag, dandelion root, ginger, and peppermint leaves to a heatproof teapot or infuser.
- Pour the hot water over the herbs and cover the teapot or infuser.
- Allow the tea to steep for 10-15 minutes. Steeping longer can intensify the flavor and benefits.
- After steeping, strain the tea into cups, removing the herbs if loose or removing the tea bag.
- Add fresh lemon slices and sweeten with honey if desired. Stir well and serve warm or at room temperature.
Tips
- Substitutions: You can replace peppermint with other calming herbs like chamomile or add a cinnamon stick for extra flavor and benefits.
- Storage: Prepare a larger batch and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat or enjoy cold, adding fresh lemon or honey as needed.
- Common mistakes: Avoid steeping herbs for too long, which can make the tea bitter. Also, use filtered water for the best taste and purity.
- Dosage and frequency: Drink 1-2 cups daily, preferably in the morning or early afternoon, to support detoxification without disrupting sleep.
Serving Suggestions
Enjoy this detox tea as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle. It pairs well with light snacks like fresh fruit, nuts, or whole-grain crackers. Incorporate it into your daily routine to help boost hydration and digestion naturally.
