For fans of Cinderella and classic rock, the potential reunion of the band raises many questions—especially regarding Jeff Labar’s absence. Drummer Fred Coury offers insights into whether a Cinderella reunion could happen without Labar, what it would look like, and the implications for fans. This article explores Coury’s perspective, the band’s history, and what to consider when hoping for a reunion, making it ideal for music enthusiasts, Cinderella followers, and rock historians.
Fred Coury’s Perspective on a Cinderella Reunion Without Jeff Labar
Fred Coury has been vocal about the possibility of Cinderella reuniting without Jeff Labar, emphasizing that Labar’s passing in 2015 leaves a significant void. Coury has stated in interviews that while the band members have expressed interest in playing together again, the chemistry and contributions Labar made to the band’s sound are irreplaceable. His comments highlight the emotional and musical challenges in recreating Cinderella’s classic lineup without Labar, making fans wonder if a reunion is even feasible or meaningful without him.
The Impact of Jeff Labar’s Passing on Cinderella’s Future
Jeff Labar was a founding member of Cinderella and a key guitarist whose riffs defined hits like “Nobody’s Fool” and “Gypsy Road.” His death in 2015 from alcohol-related issues deeply affected the band and its fans. Since then, the band has been cautious about reuniting, fearing that any lineup changes might tarnish their legacy. Coury has acknowledged that while the band remains open to performing, the absence of Labar makes a traditional reunion complicated, prompting speculation about alternative configurations or tribute performances.
Possible Lineup Scenarios for a Cinderella Reunion
Without Jeff Labar, a Cinderella reunion could take several forms. One option involves the remaining members—Tom Keifer, Eric Brittingham, and Fred Coury—performing as a trio or with guest musicians filling in for Labar. Another possibility is a tribute concert featuring guest guitarists who emulate Labar’s style. Some fans hope for a lineup that includes new musicians, but Coury has emphasized that any such version would be more of a tribute than a true reunion of the original band.
What Fans Can Expect from a Reunited Cinderella
If Cinderella were to reunite without Jeff Labar, fans could expect a focus on the band’s classic hits performed with the remaining members. However, the authenticity and energy that Labar brought to the stage might be missing, leading some to feel that such a reunion would be incomplete. Coury has expressed that any future performances would aim to honor Labar’s legacy, possibly through tribute elements or special arrangements, but that the core chemistry would inevitably differ from the original lineup.
How to Choose Between Different Cinderella Reunion Options
When considering whether to support a Cinderella reunion without Jeff Labar, fans should evaluate what matters most: authenticity, tribute, or musical quality. Look for lineups that clearly state who is performing and whether they include original members or guest musicians. Pay attention to the band’s intentions—are they seeking to honor the original sound or create a new chapter? Personal preferences about nostalgia versus innovation will guide your choice.
The Role of Tom Keifer and Other Band Members
Tom Keifer has remained the primary creative force behind Cinderella, and his vision will likely shape any future reunion. Coury and bassist Eric Brittingham have expressed willingness to perform, but their participation may depend on the lineup’s composition. Keifer’s commitment to maintaining the band’s legacy suggests that any reunion would focus on delivering a true Cinderella experience, even if some members are different from the original.
Legal and Rights Issues Surrounding Cinderella’s Name and Legacy
Reuniting Cinderella involves navigating rights to the band’s name and catalog. The band members, especially Keifer, hold the trademarks and publishing rights, which influence who can perform under the Cinderella name. Coury has noted that any official reunion would require legal agreements, and the absence of Jeff Labar complicates matters further. Fans should be aware that not all reunion shows are officially sanctioned or authorized, impacting the authenticity of the experience.

Tickets for reunion shows are often limited and in high demand, so pre-sale opportunities and VIP packages may be available.
