Whether you’re a die-hard concertgoer, a casual listener, or simply interested in the bands’ futures, this article covers everything you need to know about the postponement, including reasons, future plans, and how to stay informed. Here are ten key points to help you understand the situation and plan accordingly.
1. The Official Announcement and Its Details
Both EVANESCENCE and WITHIN TEMPTATION announced the postponement via their official social media channels in late October 2023. The bands cited logistical challenges and ongoing global travel restrictions as primary reasons. The statement emphasized their commitment to reschedule the tour as soon as possible, reassuring fans that the decision was made with safety and health considerations in mind.
2. Which Dates and Venues Are Affected
The European leg, originally scheduled to run from November 2023 through February 2024, has been postponed. Key cities affected include London, Berlin, Paris, and Amsterdam. The organizers are working to reschedule these dates, and fans are encouraged to check official websites for updates. The venues, such as the O2 Arena in London and the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin, are ready to host the rescheduled shows once plans are finalized.
3. Why Was the Tour Postponed?
The postponement stems from multiple factors, including lingering COVID-19 travel restrictions across Europe, supply chain issues affecting staging and equipment, and health protocols for performers and crew. Both bands have expressed their frustration but prioritize safety. They also cited recent changes in government regulations that made planning difficult, leading to the decision to delay rather than cancel outright.
4. How Fans Can Stay Updated
Fans should follow EVANESCENCE and WITHIN TEMPTATION on their official social media accounts—Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook—for real-time updates. Signing up for newsletters from the bands’ official websites is also recommended. Ticketing platforms like Ticketmaster and Eventim will post rescheduled dates once confirmed. Staying engaged ensures you won’t miss the new dates or important announcements.
5. What to Do If You Already Have Tickets
If you purchased tickets for the affected shows, most organizers are offering options such as refunds or transfers to the new dates once announced. Check the official ticket provider’s policies for specific instructions. Many fans have expressed concern about losing their seats, but the majority of ticket agencies are facilitating smooth transitions or refunds to maintain fan trust.
6. How the Postponement Affects the Bands’ Future Plans
Both EVANESCENCE and WITHIN TEMPTATION are using this time to work on new music. Amy Lee has hinted at a possible upcoming album, while Sharon den Adel has mentioned new collaborations. The postponement allows them to focus on creative projects without the immediate pressure of touring. Fans can expect new releases in 2024, which might coincide with the rescheduled tour dates.
7. The Impact on Tour Merchandise and Fan Events
Merchandise pre-orders and exclusive items linked to the tour are still available through official online stores. However, fans should be aware that delivery might be delayed due to supply chain issues. Some fan events and meet-and-greets scheduled around the original tour dates are also postponed or canceled. Keep an eye on official channels for updates on these special experiences.
8. How the Postponement Reflects on the Live Music Industry
The delay highlights ongoing challenges faced by the live music sector post-pandemic. Many artists are experiencing similar postponements, reflecting broader issues like international travel restrictions and production delays. Despite these setbacks, the resilience of bands and organizers demonstrates a strong commitment to returning to the stage safely.
9. Comparing This Postponement with Past Tours
Historically, bands like EVANESCENCE and WITHIN TEMPTATION have faced tour delays due to health issues or logistical problems, but postponements have become more common post-2020. Fans often prefer rescheduling over cancellations, which helps maintain fan loyalty. This postponement aligns with industry trends prioritizing safety and long-term planning over immediate performances.
10. How to Make the Most of the Wait
Use this time to explore new music from both bands—check out recent releases like EVANESCENCE’s “The Bitter Truth” and WITHIN TEMPTATION’s “Resist.” Engage with fan communities online to share concert memories and anticipation. Attending virtual events, listening to live recordings, or participating in band Q&As can keep the excitement alive until the rescheduled shows arrive.
How to Choose
When deciding between attending the rescheduled EVANESCENCE and WITHIN TEMPTATION tour, consider several factors. Look at the new dates once announced—are they convenient for your location and schedule? Also, think about the venue’s size and atmosphere—larger arenas might offer a different experience than smaller theaters.
