King Diamond’s Historic Return to European Stages
King Diamond, the iconic Danish heavy metal vocalist known for his theatrical stage persona and concept albums like “Abigail” and “Them,” is set to tour Europe in 2025 after a lengthy hiatus from live performances. This tour marks a rare opportunity to see the master of horror metal perform live, with a setlist expected to feature classics alongside tracks from his latest albums. Fans will be thrilled to witness his elaborate stage production, including signature face paint, pyrotechnics, and storytelling that has defined his legendary career. If you’ve followed King Diamond’s influence on the metal scene, this tour is a must-see event that promises an immersive experience into his dark, theatrical world.
Paradise Lost Brings Gothic Doom to the Forefront
British band Paradise Lost, pioneers of gothic doom metal since the early 1990s, will join the tour, offering a contrasting yet complementary sound to King Diamond’s theatrical metal. Known for albums like “Draconian Times” and “Icon,” their atmospheric sound combines heavy riffs with melodic, melancholic melodies and introspective lyrics. This tour provides a rare chance to see Paradise Lost perform live in an energetic set that spans their decades-long discography, appealing to fans of both doom and gothic metal. Their presence elevates the tour’s diversity, ensuring a night of powerful, emotionally charged performances.
Angel Witch: The Metal Revivalists
Hailing from the UK, Angel Witch is a seminal band from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM), known for their influential debut album “Angel Witch” (1980). Their classic riffs and raw energy have inspired countless bands and continue to resonate with metal fans. On this tour, Angel Witch will bring their timeless sound to European audiences, performing tracks like “Angel Witch,” “Gargoyles,” and other fan favorites. Their presence adds a nostalgic yet fresh element to the lineup, making it a perfect opportunity for newer fans to discover the roots of heavy metal and for longtime followers to relive the early days of metal’s evolution.
Other Notable Acts and Opening Bands
While King Diamond, Paradise Lost, and Angel Witch headline the tour, several supporting acts will be opening each show, adding extra value. Bands like Blood Red Shoes, who blend punk energy with metal undertones, or local European metal bands often open the shows, providing a platform for emerging talent. These supporting acts can vary by country, so checking the specific lineups for each city is advisable. Attending these opening acts not only enhances your concert experience but also offers a chance to discover new bands that could become your favorites.
Tour Dates and Venues You Can’t Miss
The European tour spans across multiple countries, including iconic venues in Berlin, London, Paris, and Milan. The opening concert in Berlin on March 15, 2025, at Columbiahalle is expected to be a highlight, as it often attracts large crowds eager to witness King Diamond’s return. Similarly, the London O2 Academy Brixton on April 10 offers a massive stage suitable for the theatrical grandeur of King Diamond’s performance. For fans in smaller cities, venues like the Le Zenith in Paris or the Casa de la Musica in Lisbon provide intimate settings that showcase the raw power of these bands. Planning your trip early is recommended, as these shows are expected to sell out quickly.
How to Choose Which Shows to Attend
When selecting which tour dates to attend, consider factors such as the venue size, your proximity, and the setlist expectations. Larger venues like the O2 Academy or Columbiahalle will offer a more electrifying atmosphere and more elaborate stage productions, but may be more crowded. Smaller, more intimate venues can provide a closer connection to the performers and a more personal experience. Also, check the opening acts—if you’re a fan of a particular supporting band, choosing a show where they perform can enhance your night. Finally, review the setlist predictions based on previous tours or recent releases to ensure you catch your favorite songs live.
