The recent announcement that Meshuggah has postponed their European headline tour to May 2022 has left many fans eager for updates. Whether you’re a dedicated metal enthusiast or planning to attend the rescheduled shows, this article covers everything you need to know about the postponement, what it means for fans, and how to make the most of the new dates. If you’re wondering how to navigate the changes or what to expect from Meshuggah’s upcoming tour, this guide is for you.
1. Why Did Meshuggah Postpone Their Tour?
The postponement was primarily due to ongoing health and safety concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Meshuggah’s management cited the unpredictability of international travel restrictions and the need to ensure the safety of fans, crew, and band members as key reasons for rescheduling. This decision aligns with many other major tours that have faced similar delays, prioritizing health over immediate performances. Fans can rest assured that the band is committed to touring as soon as conditions permit, which is why the new dates are set for May 2022.
2. What Are the New Tour Dates and Locations?
The rescheduled Meshuggah European tour is now planned for May 2022, with dates spanning across major countries including Germany, the UK, France, and the Netherlands. For example, the Berlin show at Columbiahalle has been moved to May 15, 2022, while the London date at the O2 Forum Kentish Town is now scheduled for May 20. These dates are confirmed on the band’s official website and ticketing platforms, offering fans a clear timeline for when they’ll be able to see the band live again. It’s important to double-check the specific venue and date for your region to avoid confusion.
3. How Can Fans Get Refunds or Reschedule Tickets?
Most ticket vendors and official ticketing platforms are offering options to either refund tickets or transfer them to the new dates. If you purchased tickets through Ticketmaster, Eventim, or other authorized sellers, you should receive email notifications with instructions on how to proceed. In many cases, refunds are automatically processed if you cannot attend the new dates. However, if you prefer to keep your tickets for the rescheduled show, ensure you follow the official instructions to transfer your booking. It’s advisable to act quickly, as some venues may have limited capacity or specific policies regarding refunds and exchanges.
4. What Impact Does the Postponement Have on the Band and Tour Production?
Meshuggah’s postponement allows the band to prepare thoroughly for the rescheduled dates, ensuring high-quality performances and safety standards. The delay also provides additional time for the tour production team to finalize stage setups, logistics, and health protocols. Fans can expect a fully prepared show in May 2022, with no compromises on the band’s renowned technical precision and intense live energy. The band has expressed their disappointment but emphasized their excitement to perform again and connect with fans in the new timeframe.
5. Will Meshuggah Release New Music Before the Tour?
While Meshuggah has not officially announced new albums or singles coinciding with the tour, the band has hinted at working on new material. Their last album, “Immutable,” was released in 2022, and they have been performing new songs live during recent shows. Fans hoping for a new release before the tour should stay tuned to official channels for updates, as the band often uses touring to debut new material or tease upcoming projects.
6. How Will the Postponement Affect Ticket Availability?
Initially, some tickets sold out quickly, especially for high-demand cities like Berlin and London. With the delay to May 2022, some fans may be hesitant to hold onto their tickets, leading to potential resale or secondary market activity. Conversely, new ticket allocations might become available closer to the new date, especially if the band or venues decide to expand capacity. It’s recommended to monitor official sources for any additional ticket releases or updates on availability.
7. What Are Fans Saying About the Postponement?
Reactions among fans have been mixed; many understand the necessity of delays due to health concerns, while others are disappointed about the change of plans. Social media platforms like Reddit and Facebook groups are filled with discussions about rescheduling, ticket transfers, and excitement for the eventual shows. Overall, the consensus is that fans prefer a safe, well-organized tour over rushed performances, and most are eagerly awaiting the May 2022 dates.
8. How Is Meshuggah Communicating With Fans?
The band has been proactive in updating fans through their official website, social media accounts, and email newsletters. They posted a detailed statement explaining the reasons for postponement and expressing their gratitude for fans’ understanding. Regular updates about new music, tour plans, and safety measures are expected as the new dates approach, ensuring fans stay informed and engaged throughout the process.
9. How Does the Postponement Affect Merchandise and VIP Packages?
For fans who purchased exclusive merchandise or VIP packages, the postponement may mean rescheduling or refunds, depending on the vendor policy. Many merchandise vendors have updated their policies to accommodate the new dates, offering options to transfer or hold orders until the rescheduled shows. VIP packages, which often include meet-and-greets or exclusive access, are usually transferable, but it’s essential to confirm with the official ticketing platform or tour organizer for specific arrangements.
10. What Should Fans Do to Prepare for the Rescheduled Tour?
Fans should keep their tickets safe, monitor official channels for updates, and plan their travel accordingly. It’s advisable to arrive early at venues, as health protocols may require additional screening or social distancing measures. Additionally, staying connected with the band’s social media will provide timely updates on any further changes or announcements. Preparing mentally and financially for the rescheduled dates ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience when the tour finally kicks off in May 2022.
How to Choose
When selecting tickets or planning your attendance, consider the proximity to the stage, the venue’s reputation, and your personal safety preferences. Think about travel arrangements and accommodations early, especially since the new dates fall during a busy season for concerts. If you’re unsure about the health protocols, check the venue’s official website for COVID-19 safety measures.
