1. Metallica’s M72 World Tour Overview
The M72 World Tour is Metallica’s ambitious concert series kicking off in 2023, spanning North America, Europe, and beyond through 2024. It marks a significant milestone as the band performs two completely different setlists at each venue, giving fans a unique experience on each night. The tour is named after the band’s 72 Seasons album, and it emphasizes high-energy performances and innovative stage production. This extensive tour aims to bring Metallica’s legendary sound to fans worldwide, making it a historic event for metal music lovers.
2. Pantera’s Return to the Stage
One of the biggest highlights of the M72 Tour is the return of Pantera, featuring guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante. This lineup honors the legacy of the legendary band, with Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown leading the performance of classic Pantera hits like “Walk,” “Cowboys from Hell,” and “Domination.” Their reunion on stage is a rare opportunity for fans to experience the thrash metal powerhouse live after decades apart. The energy and nostalgia they bring make their appearances on the tour highly anticipated and worth catching if you’re a Pantera fan or a metal veteran.
3. The Unique Two-Set Format
Unlike typical concerts, Metallica’s M72 Tour features two different setlists per show, performed on consecutive nights at the same venue. This approach allows fans to experience a broader spectrum of the band’s catalog, including deep cuts and new material from the latest album. The first night often emphasizes newer tracks, while the second night focuses on classic hits, ensuring variety and value. This format makes each show more memorable and encourages fans to attend multiple nights for the full experience.
4. Exclusive Stage Production and Visuals

Expect a state-of-the-art production with immersive visuals, pyrotechnics, and innovative lighting designed to enhance the live experience. For fans who appreciate high-quality production, attending a show on the M72 Tour offers a visual feast that complements the powerful performances.
5. Special Guest Acts and Opening Bands
Each leg of the tour features carefully chosen supporting acts that align with Metallica’s heavy and diverse style. For example, in North America, the tour features bands like Ice Nine Kills and Architects, offering a mix of metalcore and alternative metal sounds. These openers help set the tone for the night and give fans a broader taste of the modern metal scene. Attending these shows not only means seeing Metallica but also discovering new bands that are shaping the future of metal.

How to Choose
When selecting which tour dates to attend, consider a few key factors: your proximity to the venue, the specific bands performing, the setlist preferences, and ticket availability.
