For Slayer fans and action figure collectors alike, the upcoming ‘Live Undead’ ReAction Figures promise a nostalgic blast from the past with a focus on the legendary band’s iconic members. However, many are wondering: where’s Dave Lombardo? This list explores the figures announced, what makes them special, and how to choose the right one for your collection.
1. Slayer ‘Live Undead’ ReAction Figure Set
The centerpiece of the line is the Slayer ‘Live Undead’ ReAction Figures set, which recreates the band’s classic 1986 album cover. These figures feature detailed costumes, including Jeff Hanneman’s signature leather jacket, Kerry King’s spiked guitar, and Tom Araya’s bass and microphone. The set captures the raw energy of Slayer’s live performances, making it a must-have for fans who want a tangible piece of metal history.
2. Tom Araya Action Figure
Tom Araya’s figure stands out with its authentic bass guitar and mic stand, reflecting his role as the band’s frontman. The figure’s articulation allows for dynamic poses, perfect for recreating Slayer’s intense stage presence. Its detailed facial sculpt and band-specific clothing make it a prized collectible for Slayer enthusiasts.
3. Kerry King ReAction Figure
Kerry King’s figure is notable for its detailed guitar, complete with custom paintwork that mimics his iconic “Hell Awaits” guitar. The figure’s spiked leather jacket and long hair capture his thrash metal persona perfectly. It’s an essential piece for fans who want to showcase Slayer’s guitar legend.
4. Jeff Hanneman ReAction Figure
Jeff Hanneman’s figure pays homage to the late guitarist with a detailed depiction of his signature look, including his long hair and Slayer shirt. Although Hanneman is no longer with us, this figure keeps his memory alive in any Slayer collection. Its poseability and accurate accessories make it a valuable addition.
5. Why No Dave Lombardo?
One of the most notable absences in the line is Dave Lombardo, Slayer’s legendary drummer. Despite Lombardo’s pivotal role in shaping Slayer’s sound, he has yet to be included in the ‘Live Undead’ ReAction Figures. Fans speculate that licensing issues or band dynamics may be behind this omission, leaving many disappointed.
6. Limited Edition Variants
Several figures come in limited edition variants, featuring alternate costumes or accessories such as different guitars or stage props. These are highly sought after by collectors due to their rarity and unique design, adding a layer of exclusivity to the line.
7. Compatibility with Other ReAction Lines
The Slayer figures are compatible with other ReAction figures from bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath. This allows collectors to build a metal-themed diorama or display, expanding their collection beyond Slayer alone. The uniform size and articulation make mixing and matching straightforward.
8. Packaging and Display Options
The figures come in retro-style blister packs that enhance their vintage appeal. For collectors who prefer to keep figures mint-in-box, the packaging features Slayer’s classic logo and album art. Display cases and stands are recommended to showcase these figures prominently.
9. Price Range and Availability
Pricing varies from $15 to $30 per figure, depending on the rarity and edition. They are available through specialty retailers, online marketplaces, and band merchandise stores. Limited editions tend to sell out quickly, so early purchase is advised for serious collectors.
10. The Future of Slayer ReAction Figures
Fans are hopeful that future releases will include Dave Lombardo and other band members from different eras. The line’s success suggests that more figures, perhaps featuring Slayer’s iconic album covers or live performances, could be on the horizon. Keeping an eye on collector announcements will ensure you don’t miss out.
How to Choose
When selecting Slayer ReAction Figures, consider which band members resonate most with your collection. Authenticity, poseability, and packaging are key factors—especially if you plan to display or keep them sealed. Limited editions and variants can add uniqueness, but may come at a higher price point. Ultimately, choose figures that reflect your favorite Slayer era or lineup.
