Whether you’re a casual listener or a dedicated collector, discover what makes this release unique and how it compares to the original.
1. The Transformation of ‘Constance’ into an Acoustic Track
SPIRITBOX’s ‘Constance’ originally appeared on their 2023 album Evolve, featuring their signature blend of metalcore, progressive metal, and melodic elements. The acoustic version strips down the heavy guitars and drums, replacing them with delicate acoustic guitar strumming, subtle bass, and soft vocal delivery. This transformation provides a new emotional depth, highlighting the song’s lyrical poignancy and vocal nuances, making it a must-listen for fans interested in the band’s versatility and songwriting prowess.
2. The Creative Process Behind the Acoustic Release
According to band frontwoman Courtney LaPlante, the acoustic version was recorded during a special session in early 2024, aiming to showcase the song’s raw emotion. The band collaborated with producer Taylor Young, known for his work with Nails andOFF!, to maintain their signature sound while ensuring a warm, intimate acoustic tone. The result offers fans a different perspective on the song’s themes of loss and resilience, emphasizing vulnerability and lyrical clarity.
3. How ‘Constance’ Sounds Differently in Acoustic Form
Listening to the acoustic version reveals new layers of meaning, with LaPlante’s vocals more exposed and emotionally raw. The absence of distortion and heavy percussion allows listeners to focus on the lyrics, which explore themes of grief and acceptance. The gentle guitar work, combined with subtle harmonies, creates an atmospheric mood that contrasts sharply with the original’s intensity, making it a compelling reinterpretation for those seeking a more introspective experience.
4. The Significance for Fans and Collectors
This acoustic release offers fans a rare glimpse into SPIRITBOX’s songwriting process and emotional depth. Limited edition vinyl pressings featuring the acoustic version are available through their official store, making it a valuable collectible. 6. How to Experience the Acoustic ‘Constance’ Live
SPIRITBOX has announced upcoming live acoustic sessions on select dates in 2024, including performances at major festivals like Download Festival and their headline tour. 7. The Role of Acoustic Versions in Modern Metal
Acoustic reinterpretations are increasingly popular in the metal scene, serving as a bridge between raw emotion and technical prowess. Bands like ALTER BRIDGE, ARCH ENEMY, and TOOL have released acoustic tracks that showcase their songwriting skills and emotional depth. SPIRITBOX’s ‘Constance’ acoustic version continues this trend, emphasizing that metal bands can deliver powerful performances even in stripped-down formats, broadening their musical horizons.
8. Comparing the Original and Acoustic Versions
While the original ‘Constance’ is characterized by its heavy riffs, aggressive percussion, and dynamic shifts, the acoustic version focuses on simplicity and emotional expression. Fans often prefer the original for its energy and intensity, but the acoustic version offers a more intimate, vulnerable experience. Listening to both provides a comprehensive understanding of the song’s versatility and the band’s artistic range.
9. How to Incorporate the Acoustic ‘Constance’ into Your Playlist
For a balanced listening experience, consider pairing the original and acoustic versions together. The original energizes, while the acoustic fosters reflection. 10. Future Acoustic Releases from SPIRITBOX?

How to Choose
When selecting between the original and acoustic versions, consider what you seek from your listening experience. If you prefer high-energy, dynamic metal tracks, the original ‘Constance’ delivers that intensity.
